How To Dress Fifteen Years Younger: It’s In The Jeans for Fall 2015

Dress Younger, Jeans fall 2015

We all want to look younger and one of the best ways to achieve that is by dressing on-trend. A simple way to “dress younger” is to wear jeans! I know many women fear wearing jeans because they don’t want to look out of style. Simply clear out your closet of anything resembling mom jeans. At one time “mom jeans” were 80s style faded high-waisted reverse jeans, but now I believe they have gravitated towards light top-stitched and pocket embroidered or rhinestone studded jeans from 2008. Sorry, but if your jeans have not been updated in the last 5-8 years you probably need a new pair! And this season there are many new styles to choose from to suit you best.

You can stay on top of the trends by purchasing some of the latest denim looks, but don’t try to dress like a 20 year old! Then you’ll look like you are a mom trying too hard. Even if you don’t have children.

Avoid jeans with giant tears, holes, deconstruction, destroyed looks, stone washed denim, embellished pockets, studs, embroidery, splattered paint, large patterns, patches, patchwork, bleaching, extra low rises and extra tight fits. I said “avoid” because there are always exceptions to every rule and sometimes (in a small dose) one of these details may be just right for you.

Try on several styles of jeans, decide how you are going to wear them and know what look is right for you when shopping. Fall is the perfect time to update your jeans wardrobe. Here are six of my favorite fall ’15 jeans silhouettes to try and are appropriate for women over 30. Frame-skinny

Skinny Jeans: Frame Denim Le Skinny Jeans

You may have heard that skinny jeans are on their way out. Its true but not so fast, because women still love them like leggings (which really are out!). Wear skinny jeans instead of leggings under long (I repeat long) sweaters, cardigans and jackets. As a bonus is you can tuck them into boots, too. Relaxed-Skinny

Relaxed Skinny: Frame Le Garcon Jeans

The newer silhouette replacing super skinny jeans is the relaxed skinny look. Phew!

Rag & Bone, cigarette, High-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans

Straight Leg: Rag & Bone High-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans

A cigarette style is another option to super skinny ankle strangling jeans. Slightly looser around the ankle, this style is more flattering on many women and avoids “cone leg”. I made that one up.

AG-High-Rise-FlareFlare: AG Janis High-Rise Flare

Flare jeans are a new trend (once again) but now they flair out higher towards the knee or above and they are higher waisted (than the pair you have from 10 years ago). Take a look at the new flares if they suit your style and stick to black or a dark denim shade. slim Boyfreind jeans, Citizen

Slim Boyfriend: Citizens of Humanity The Principle Girlfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans now come in slimmer and less slouchy or sloppy-looking styles. (So maybe … you have a boyfriend who is slim.) Cropped-straight, Rag & Bone

Cropped: Rag & Bone/JEAN The Equestrian Crop Straight Leg Jeans

Wider legged and cropped denim is totally on-trend this season and women over 30, 40 or 50 can sport the look. Just make sure you wear a cool pair of shoes or boots! – Carol Calacci
