Put Away The Neutrals: The Hottest Hues Of 2021 Are Here

This is about the time of year when we get sick of gray, beige, and even our beloved black and winter white. And this might go doubly so right now, since being somewhat stuck at home is making us crave all things colorful and bold. Good thing spring is right around the corner! And judging by what we’re seeing in magazines and in (online) stores, plenty of other people are seeking out luscious colors too! Here are some of our favorite shades right now and how to wear the hottest hues of 2021.

The Hottest Hues Of 2021

Turquoise

Turquoise is one of the most universally flattering colors, and something about any tone of this blue-green hue just makes us smile. For instance, wouldn’t these turquoise Minnetonka moccasins put you in a good mood every time you put them on? And who doesn’t need another pair of slippers or house shoes right about now?

Another way we love to wear this happy color is in the form of jewelry. These copper-veined teardrop-shaped turquoise and silver earrings from Matrix Turquoise on Amazon would add some much-needed life on any and all endless Zooms or Facetime calls.

Terra Cotta

This coppery pink or soft coral shade is one of our favorite bordering-on-neutral options right now. Try something like this NIC + ZOE draped crinkle top. The flowy style is very forgiving and would work for virtually any season, as would this short sleeve tee from Banana Republic.

Royal Blue

A lush royal blue top just makes us happy (and it looks great on video chat), so we’re big fans of this Cloth & Stone button-down available at Anthropologie. Wear it with black, blue, or gray denim or skinny pants right now, and white denim come warmer weather.

Want to wear your bright blue in the form of earrings? These rectangular crystal earrings from KEMALL Collection on Amazon are a cheap and cheerful pick-me-up, and they come in plenty of other uplifting colors if blue isn’t your thing.

Emerald Green

We will always love a luxe velvet blazer, and picking up this emerald hued one from Aqua at Bloomingdale’s is a great choice for right now, and you’ll be able to wear it throughout the holiday season next year – and possibly forever, since velvet is a holiday season and cold weather classic.

Citron Yellow

Nothing makes us smile quite like a sunny yellow which is one of the hottest hues of 2021. So we’re loving this citron yellow sweater from White House Black Market with its slightly puffed sleeves and face-framing neckline. Not a fan of how yellow looks with your complexion but still want to rock some citron? Try a midi skirt like this one from Socialite at Nordstrom. It’s a steal and an easy way to try out the trend. Wear it with black or gray tights now and bare legs in the spring and summer.

Orchid Purple

This shade that lies somewhere between violet, lavender and magenta is the perfect color to wear as winter turns into spring and the flowers begin to bloom. This cozy Free People extra long top (available at Nordstrom) is an excellent casual piece and perfect to throw on over leggings, and this orchid paisley scarf would be wonderful tossed over almost anything, but we especially love it paired with any shade of gray.

We’ll always love our neutrals, especially basic black, white, ivory and camel. But sometimes it’s a good idea to bring out all the colors! Vivid brights, dreamy pastels, and rich jewel tones can brighten your mood and they are perfect as we transition into spring.
