Looks For Less: Fashion Tips For Smooth Summer Traveling

The sun is shining and birds are chirping yet summer can be stressful at times, especially while traveling. Family and friends can get tiresome after the sixth hour in the car, or during a long layover in the airport of a city you wouldn’t be in otherwise. While you can’t always stop flight delays and humidity, at least you can dress like a pro traveler and look chic while feeling comfy. You don’t have to spend a fortune, either! Here are a few fashion tips for smooth summer traveling.

While traveling in the warmer months, I tend to lean towards wearing maxi dresses. They somehow always manage to look polished and easy breezy at the same time. Also, if there’s limited time between landing and your dinner reservation, you can quickly change your shoes and take the time refresh your makeup and hair with no need to dig around in your suitcase for a change of clothes in the hotel lobby bathroom.

This printed maxi dress from H&M would look very flattering on a number of body types, even short women like me. The blue color is serene and the delicate floral pattern is really pretty. The gently flared skirt has a slit, which will keep you cool without revealing too much. It’s touted as an off-the-shoulder dress, but this style dress with the fitted smocking at the top can be worn with the sleeves up on your shoulders too. If blue isn’t your thing, it comes in plain black too, so at this price, why not snap up both?

As for shoes, travel with a pair that are easy to slip on and off. Sandals and slides are kind of blah – you don’t want to look like a beach bum and you also don’t have time for complicated ties on sandals after going through security. Why not get shoes that are a nice compromise? I found this minimalist gold pair from ASOS. They’re technically sandals and easy to put on, but look sophisticated because they have a back to them.

As everyone knows, it’s key to have the right bag for traveling. This affordable reversible tote from Free People comes in an astounding thirteen different color combinations (including python prints and metallics) and features an adjustable strap and a removable zipper pouch. And no one wants a dead phone battery. You can pick up this adorable portable phone charger from Sonix. Its tropical banana print makes you feel like you are already on vacation, even if you’re still in your living room booking the tickets.

The BaubleBar earring of the summer seems to be these fun ball drop earrings. They are perfect for any vacation and come in a variety of happy colors. They’re easy to slip on and accessorize once you land.

Safe travels and Bon Voyage!
