Celebrity Style: Celebs Love the Colorful Vibrancy of Louis Vuitton

When former Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere took the helm at Louis Vuitton, leaving Marc Jacobs to concentrate on his namesake label, I worried this new direction would mean more monogram prints and less color for the brand. I was pleasantly surprised when it actually meant brighter shades and bolder looks. Don’t get me wrong, I like what Marc Jacobs did, (remember the Spring 2012 runway?) but there was something very young about his designs that didn’t happen this time around with Ghesquiere – even with all the neon hues and superhero themes.

I’m loving Louis Vuitton this past year, and it seems, so are fashionistas. Louis Vuitton is considered the most successful fashion brand of today. It took 14th place in Forbes’ list of most valuable brands and was the only fashion brand to appear in the top 20. Why? While Jacobs always made a statement with his collections, what Ghesquiere has done is create a collection based on clothing styled around modern and futuristic versions of Vuitton’s famous and infamous carryalls. The clothes themselves are bright and statement-making (Resort 2017) but streamlined for the modern woman (Spring 2017).

Let’s look at the celebs loving Louis Vuitton as well.

Cate Blanchett

I’m an adamant follower of Cate Blanchett’s style. It’s risky and always changing but still age appropriate. That’s why I’m not surprised she chose this stylized Louis Vuitton number which hugs her silhouette perfectly. This black, white and yellow leather sleeve dress from Louis Vuitton’s fall collection is both highly digitalized and super womanly.

Miranda Kerr and Karlie Kloss

The outfits worn by Miranda Kerr and Karlie Kloss at the Spring 2017 LV show actually highlight Louis Vuitton’s Resort collection, which paid homage to the colorful sportif of Rio de Janeiro. It also gave forth a sexy superhero vibe with its beautiful tones and perfectly placed cutouts. The attire looked ultra feminine and really fun.

Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams’ outfit at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2017 runway show displays the more streamlined version of Louis Vuitton, with a bit of fun in the ruffles at the chest, which look like salty beach waves on a summer’s day. This is Nicolas Ghesquiere at his finest – subdued with spots of smart color.

Jennifer Connelly

What else did we love about the Spring 2017 collection for Louis Vuitton? Those punk outfits with metallics, leather and layering oversize sweaters and funky jackets – best highlighted by Jennifer Connelly, an avid Louis Vuitton fan and follower, who has changed her style (for the better) with the brand!
