We Found Some Of The Most Chic Linen Looks For Summer 2021

Linen is a perpetual warm weather classic, and for good reason. Perhaps nothing is cooler and more breathable when it is hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk outside. But linen can also crease, wrinkle, or otherwise look unkempt, particularly when it is stuffed in a suitcase or duffel bag. Plus a lot of linen pieces can be overly boxy or otherwise unflattering, or the texture can be rough and scratchy. However, nothing beats linen looks for summer days and warm weather vacation destinations.

With all new linen blends and styles available now, you might be able to wear linen or linen looks without looking rumpled while still maintaining that effortless cool feeling. Here are some of our favorite cheap and chic linen pieces that you need to get right now…

Linen Tunics And Dresses

Humans have been wearing linen tunics and caftans in extremely hot places for centuries, so why mess with a good thing? Linen pieces are perfect for a vacation or just lounging in your backyard or even at a casual outdoor cafe. A linen tunic or tunic dress (or even go for a full caftan) is almost never out of place in the heat of summertime.

This tunic dress by R. Vivimos would be great layered over shorts or cropped leggings, or as a swimsuit coverup. Or go for a longer dress like this flared tank style from H&M. You can add a loose button-down or open cardigan for more coverage, or get a fabulous sunhat and sunglasses and embrace the chilled-out glamour.

Crinkle Linen

Go for something that is purposefully wrinkled like a linen gauze (search for “crinkle linen” when you shop online) and you won’t have to worry about creasing! These types of pieces are great for traveling and they can be super lightweight, like this crinkle linen top from Soojun on Amazon that would be perfection tucked into high-waisted skirts or pants.

Patterned Or Printed Linen

If you really hate creases in your linen, choosing a piece with an intricate pattern can help offset the wrinkles. For example, this cheetah print linen cardigan from Halogen at Nordstrom (now only $41.40 at the Anniversary Sale) or this leopard print button-down from H&M (wear it knotted at the waist to turn down the volume) would both work well. Plus, animal prints like these can compliment a lot of different pieces, so it’s practically a neutral.

Not Your Standard Button Downs

Sure, a traditional linen button-down or button-up shirt is an easy basic, and you can even most likely get away with only pressing the collar and cuffs if you want a little polish. But going beyond the basics might add a little more playfulness to your summer wardrobe, making something like this linen-blend keyhole top from Madewell a great choice to mix with everything from denim shorts to a printed maxi skirt.

Linen Pants

Pants or even shorts in a linen blend (sometimes referred to as “beach pants”) can be an excellent option on the hottest days since they feel like you are wearing almost nothing. And done with a wide leg paired with a simple fitted tee or tank – or even thrown over a swimsuit – linen pants can easily be dressed up with some statement jewelry and flats in a fun color or with interesting details. Try a pair like these from Rapbin via Amazon. You might end up being surprised by how often you reach for them!

Consider Your Accessories

The way to keep your linen ensembles from looking overly casual or like you’re wearing a wrinkled bedsheet is to make your accessories purposeful and maybe a little ostentatious. For instance, some beaded or metallic sandals like these from Unisa are a great all-around summer pick-me-up at less than $40.

Or go for big statement earrings or bracelets like this split cuff by Karine Sultan. And a colorful summer tote can also go a long way towards dressing up simple linen pieces and won’t add any uncomfortable weight or layers to your outfit.

Are you the type to let your linen wrinkle freely, or do you prefer to keep things pressed? Do you like linen or linen blends for keeping cool in the summer? How else do you keep cool and stylish in the hottest weather?
