Celebrity Style: The Style Evolution of Mandy Moore

Remember her days of blonde hair and bubblegum pop? Of cargo pants, skateboarders, and hair in messy knots? We noticed the celebrity style evolution of Mandy Moore. Yes she was once the queen of ’00s pop and her sugary hit “Candy” still gives us all the feels. More than a decade later, the “Walk to Remember” actress has matured and redefined her career (at least the acting bit) with an amazing comeback. With that comes a new and sophisticated style that proves the sweetest girl can become the edgiest.

Mandy Moore says the “wisdom and free-spiritedness that comes with age and time” is responsible for her killer style now at age 32. Words to live by. Here are some of her best looks of late.

Perhaps the best example of the growth and maturity of Mandy Moore? The transition of bold jewel tones and pink to an edgier black print. In January, Mandy wore this black patchwork Marc Jacobs to the Elle Women in TV Celebration event and Go Fug Yourself reported that Mandy “doesn’t look like herself.” And she certainly doesn’t look like the sugary sweet girl who once sang, “Can you make my wish, baby, your command?” Yes, ladies and gentleman, that’s from her song “I Wanna Be With You.”

Mandy Moore  – Off the Shoulder Dress by L’Agence

I admit, I love the new, stylish Mandy Moore. Yes, there was a time (a few years after she went from blonde to brunette) where she was a little to into ratty sneakers and boring cardigans (it was around the time of her marriage to Ryan Adams) but perhaps her transition back into the refined world of style happened in 2012 when she went to the CFDA Awards in a Greek goddess-inspired Lela Rose dress.

I digress. No one knows exactly when the transition back into the front pages of the style magazines happened but perhaps it was around the time she showed up on television in “This is Us” and suddenly began to grace the red carpets in amazing designers like Prabal Gurung and Marchesa. Nowhere is this more evident than the NBC and Vanity Fair event toasting the 2016-2017 TV season hosted by Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. Mandy Moore wore a gorgeous, textured off-the-shoulder black dress by L’Agence. So effortless and yet, so chic.

Mandy Moore – Lela Role at NYFW Fall ’18

I know it’s only March, but this sheer Lela Rose number with the white collar is by far my absolute favorite outfit of the year so far. I don’t know what it is — the way the sheer plays up the print which plays up the off-the-shoulder silhouette and high waist skirt. You know what? It could just be the fact that Mandy Moore is wearing dark print once again. Mandy has been a fan of designer Lela Rose for a long time, so when we started seeing her in the front row of New York Fashion Week this season, we knew she would show up at her favorite designer’s show. We also know Lela Rose’s style is feminine and sophisticated but we didn’t realize she was so edgy. And her clothes seem like they were made for Mandy.

Mandy Moore – Naeem Khan Gown at the Golden Globes 2017

Love, love, LOVED everything about Mandy’s look at the Golden Globes this year. Mandy, who was nominated for her role in “This is Us” wore a beautiful Naeem Khan gown with a cape and a plunging neckline that was sexy but not over the top. And in a dark color, of course.

Mandy Moore – Red Beaded Dress by Jenny Packham

Step aside Kate Middleton. You’re not the only one here who looks fantastic in Jenny Packham. This backless gown was worn by Mandy at the 19th Costume Designers Guild Awards and she looked stunning. OK, so maybe the lining leaves something to be desired, but it’s not black! And I do like the beading and the nude layer. I mean, honestly, does Mandy make anything look bad?
