Celebrity Style: Ethereal Fashion

Ethereal: extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.

For fashion, ethereal means sheer and delicate textures, fabrics that breathe and shine, and angelic, elegant motifs. The red carpet is the perfect place for an ethereal look but so is your next dinner party. Check out how these celebrities pulled off their own versions of ethereal fashion.

Brie Larson

Brie Larson and Naomi Watts (the two stars of the movie The Glass Castle) know the true meaning of the word “ethereal” i two different ways, as they showcased their ethereal fashion during a New York screening for the movie. For Brie, that meant donning a breathtaking tulle Monique Lhuillier gown that looked even better on her than it did on the Resort 2018 runway. A cape, delicate beadwork, and the beauty of a one-shoulder shape round out this look as do her striking and metallic leather sandals.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa did her own version of ethereal by wearing powder blue Georges Chakra couture with white floral appliques. Call it sweet or sexy, the aura that seems to surround this number is one of grace and beauty. While some may say, wow, this dress is overpowered by the flesh colored lining underneath, I think the ethereal, youthful vibe is enhanced by the flutter sleeves and the sheerness of the fabric.

Naomi Watts

You may think tulle or chiffon or breathable airy fabrics represent the ethereal look, but Naomi Watts has made us realize that even a heavier satin can still be as delicate. It’s not what we’re normally used to, from the satin fabric to the long sleeves, but for some reason it still makes her petite form look even more angelic.

Jaime King

Bell sleeves and a vintage influence doesn’t necessarily mean ethereal, but for Jaime King, it works. This Alice + Olivia top has all that and more. From the sheer and lace sleeves to the wide leg trousers that set off the loud but delicate top, this retro look would probably have been better with a nice, ladylike pencil skirt but Jaime’s styling of it makes it both statement-making and sweet.
