The Best Celebrity Resort Fashion That Will Inspire You Now

Resort wear can perhaps best be described as collections worn by the more “affluent” customers who spend their post-Christmas/New Year’s vacations in warm weather climates. But it has also become the attire worn year round by fashion-savvy folk who know how to dress crisply for resort destinations and relaxation.

While you may not be heading to Hawaii or Dubai over Christmas break, it is summer and that means it’s the perfect time to pull out your resort fashion, whether you’re vacationing in the Mediterranean or not. Celebrities are already showcasing their Bermuda shorts, caftans, wedge sandals, dinner jackets, breathable denim, nautical and palm tree prints, particularly at the recent resort wear and haute couture fashion shows in New York, Paris and Milan.

Let’s check out some of the unique resort fashion we’ve seen this year that is truly inspiring us for summer.

Jennifer Connelly – Louis Vuitton

Jennifer Connelly’s Louis Vuitton straight from the runway look is a bit all over the place – but you gotta love that blue and white bomber jacket with the linebacker sleeves. I’m loving the pinstripe pants less so, but ironically it’s the most obvious “resort wear look”  of the entire ensemble. Sporty and stylish and colorblocked, this outfit is one of my favorite resort looks this year, off the beaten path.

Margot Robbie – Chanel

I’m not sure how “resort” this look is, but actress Margot Robbie modeled it at the Chanel Cruise 2018/2019 fashion show at the Grand Palais in Paris. While Chanel’s head designer Karl Lagerfeld showcased sailor pants and floppy hats on his runway, Robbie went for a sequin minidress and a thin velvet ribbon. It’s not the first thing I think of when I think of resort, but that makes it all the more intriguing.

Mandy Moore – Schiaparelli Haute Couture

The cape concept is still going strong and this style looks great on Mandy Moore, even though the bubble gum pink of this dress leaves much to be desired. She wore it at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall/Winter show but the entirety of the look still screams resort wear to me and I feel it could pass for a summer evening out with friends. Mandy Moore has really matured in her fashion sensibility and her ability to take risks without looking overdone is captivating to watch.

Meghan Markle – Ralph Lauren

Perhaps the most resort look of the bunch, Meghan Markle paired a nautical striped button down blouse with oversize wide leg pants to the Wimbeldon match she attended with sister-in-law Kate Middleton, married to her husband’s brother Prince William. I know it’s not a competition, but I think Markle has certainly been competing with fashionable Kate and she’s winning in this look, and it’s super summery, too.
