Our Favorite Style Celebrities Spotted In Strange and Out There Fashion

Folks, we’re heading into fall. For some, that means layering cardigans, wearing jeans under maxi dresses (sadly, this is a thing), and swapping lightweight textures for something a little heavier. But while some of us are simply thinking about whether or not to wear that leather jacket over the summer dress, these celebs are doing their own thing to transition into the next season. And that thing is just a little bit pecular. Some of our favorite celebrities were spotted in strange and out there fashion.

Celebrities in Strange and Out There Fashion

Now, I can’t actually say that these celebs are wearing these pieces to transition into fall. What I can say is there’s something strange going on. Each look has a little bit of summer heading into fall in it. But it’s as if the fashionista can’t decide which season to choose. Let’s see what I mean:

Minnie Driver in Johanna Ortiz

Minnie Driver is a beautiful woman, but she’s also a low-maintenance woman (and her fashion usually says as much). You can usually spot her in a button-down shirt and a pair of jeans.

So let me just say something about this look. I love, of course, that she’s wearing a tight-fitting frock. But what’s with the print? While the entire look is quite modest and demure from the padded sleeves over the shoulders to the midi skirt, the print is quite loud and it screams summer to me. Something about the green with the big white floral makes me feel like Johanna Ortiz took the pattern off a bathing suit and put it on a dress. Minnie wore this outfit to a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live! What do you think?

Marion Cotillard in Chanel

I want to give Marion Cotillard the benefit of the doubt, because she’s such a fashion icon to me. But I’m not really sure what’s going on here. A black and white stripe tube top with gray wide-leg trousers? It’s a weird mix of sporty with a menswearish vibe. And while I want to say thanks to both Marion and to Chanel for experimenting with fashion and trying something different (kudos!), I can’t help but think that once again this style star didn’t know what season to dress for. And so she went to some strange place in between – a place where wool pants and tube tops somehow go together. No, no, and no.

Keke Palmer in Georges Chakra

This look is giving me all kinds of … I don’t know what. I guess I could see Keke showing up to a party in this combination, but to a talk show? Look, if anyone can pull off this outfit, it’s Keke Palmer. She makes it look effortless. But I’m still trying to figure out why the designer thought it was a good idea to pair sequin and feather details into a bandeau top.

Once again, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! late night show brings out the strangest in fashion. She’s serving up all kinds of things in this look: gold, silver, a crop top, a pencil skirt… I’m not really sure whether what’s going on here is a wonder or a big ol’ mess.

I will say that while I can’t see this look on a talk show or a red carpet, there is something magical happening here, thanks to Keke’s amazing personality. She looks like she’s having so much fun!

Jennifer Hudson in Versace

There’s a couple things I’m trying to figure out in this Versace look. And it doesn’t have anything to do with the canary yellow color of this number. For one, I’m wondering why it’s suddenly cool again to have your black bra sticking out of your dress. Are we back to 2010? Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City? I’ve heard that 2021 is the year of no bras but I never expected this.

And no, I wouldn’t call this a lingerie-inspired dress. What it is, for me, is a dress that’s trying to hit a whole bunch of trends and not succeeding in any of them. Bold color, bra peek-a-boo, and the fluted hemline; it’s a bit all over the place.

Sure, Jennifer Hudson can pull off one big contrast. There’s no need for a necklace, and the PVC heels don’t really go with the dress even when black goes with everything. And then this begs the question: What season is she dressing for? And better yet, what decade?
