Best Camouflage Fashion Pieces for Fall: Spend A Little or A Lot!

There is no doubt that I adore camouflage fashion. And thankfully it is totally appropriate (in fact recommended) for women over 40. Camo is a forever print, similar to leopard and it is here to stay! You will want to wear it in small doses, however, so one piece at a time works best. But the beauty of camo is that it can actually make you look slimmer, because it “camouflages” your body in areas you don’t want to stand out. Another bonus is that camo prints mix well with any color, bright or pastel, as well as other prints including florals or plaids. Just give it a try! It works best when there is a similar color in the other print such as tan or black. Read more about my love of camo prints and how to style them here.

Camouflage Fashion For Fall

For fall you will find deeper shades of camouflage in richer olives and browns as well as blacks and greys. You can invest in fantastic designer fashion in camo, but I also found inexpensive pieces that will give you a similar look for less. This is great way to dip your toe into a print that you may not otherwise try. Here are six ways to wear camouflage pieces and you can splurge or steal!

Camouflage Jeans

Break away from basic blue or black denim this fall and try a pair of camo print jeans. You can wear them with just about anything, too, from neutrals to bright colors. These Veronica Beard camouflage pants have fabulous details including button tabs at the waist and a button front fly. They are worth the investment because you will wear them so much! But you may like these Nili Lotan x Target jeans for only $55. (Nili Lotan’s Jenna camo jeans from her designer line cost $375, so we are happy she made these for Target).

SPLURGE: Veronica Beard Jean Arya Straight Leg Pants, $298

STEAL: Nili Lotan x Target Women’s Camo Print High-Rise Ankle Length Skinny Jeans – Olive Green $55

Camo Trench

Burberry makes this amazing long trench coat that is very covetable, but you may not love spending $3,350 to get it. Leave it to Avec Les Filles to give you a lot of style for less, and now this camo raincoat is on sale for only $59.97.

SPLURGE: Burberry Pinmore Camo Oversize Cotton Trench Coat, $3,350

STEAL: Avec Les Filles Star Jacquard Raincoat with Removable Hood, now $59.97

Black Camouflage Sweater

Try camouflage in shades of black and grey! This gorgeous cashmere sweater from AQUA is so luxurious and worth $178, but you can also get this Danskin pullover for only $25. Maybe get both?

SPLURGE: AQUA Cashmere Camo Crewneck Cashmere Sweater – 100% Bloomingdale’s Exclusive, $178

STEAL: Danskin Women’s Long Sleeve Printed Crew Neck Pullover, $24.99

Camo Crossbody Bag

If y0u don’t usually wear prints you can wear camouflage with an accessory like this beautiful camo print canvas bag from Burberry. It is $1,090 but will be a welcome addition if you are a collector of fine handbags. But you can also make a much smaller investment and opt for this Hedgren canvas crossbody for $60. You won’t get the Rorschach test on the front (like the Burberry), but this rugged bag is ready for the rain.

SPLURGE: Burberry Sutton Camo Print Canvas Crossbody Bag, $1,090

STEAL: Hedgren Rain Recycled Canvas Crossbody, $60

Camo-lined Combat Boots

You can also get into the military look by wearing a little camo print on your boots. If you are a shoe lover you will want to splurge on these exciting Valentino Rockstud combat boots with a buckle detail and camouflage lining for $1,390. If that is not in your budget these Bos. & Co. combat boots will keep you warm all season for only $225.

SPLURGE: Valentino Garavani Rockstud Combat Boot, $1,390

STEAL: Bos. & Co. Hanz Waterpoof Faux Fur Wool Lined Combat Boot, $225

Camouflage Jacket

If you only get one piece, a camo print jacket is one you will wear multiple times. You can wear it year-round. It looks chic in the spring and summer with white pants and a tee. In the fall wear it as outerwear and in the winter you can wear it like a blazer layered under an oversized wool coat. I just gave you reasons to splurge on this Veronica Beard jacket, but you can also spend 75% less on this Sanctuary camo jacket.

SPLURGE: Veronica Beard Sumner Camo Print Jacket, $450

STEAL: Sanctuary Women’s Camo Jacket, $109
