How To Style A Black Friday Shopping Outfit This Year

In years past, a Black Friday shopping outfit would be quite different than the one I am showing you today. A typical black Friday outfit included leggings or skinny jeans with a fitted t-shirt (in case you want to try something on for yourself real fast) under a jacket, sneakers (preferably slip-ons, in case you want to try on shoes real fast) and a mini crossbody bag to allow for hands-free shopping.

However, the 2020 Black Friday shopping outfit is not styled for shopping in stores but rather to keep you comfortable while you shop from your computer at home. In fact, there will be many days to shop since some retailers are already hosting Black Friday sales. Therefore you might actually need several outfits like this.

Black Friday Shopping Outfit For 2020

I’m showing you two ways to get this look. You can invest in a high end Black Friday outfit (on the left) or spend less and get a similar look for a low price (on the right). Or you can mix up the pieces and get a high-low look. Take your pick!

The Fitted Tank

You need a base layer to keep you warm and comfy. Start with a high-end perfect-fitting seamless black tank like this Hanro Touch Feeling Tank for $120 or opt for this much lower priced BP. Double Scoop Tank at only $10.

The Black Joggers

Joggers are a must-have in 2020 for comfort and style. If you don’t already own a pair you should get them in black. These Cotton Citizen Milan Sweatpants are soft and stylish and worth the investment of $195 when you consider how often you will wear them (we call this cost per wear). But you can get a similar pair like these Gibsonlook x Living in Yellow Skye Joggers for only $48.

The Cozy Leopard Cardigan

When you are online shopping, you need to snuggle up in a cozy oversized cardigan. A leopard print is flattering and can be worn with basic black like I am showing you here, or with any other color. Besides it will look nice for your Zoom meetings. This luxurious Khaite The Amelia Leopard Jacquard Cashmere Cardigan is $980 but you can get the look for less. This BTFBM Leopard Print Soft Loose Knit Cardigan from Amazon is only $31.99.

Warm Slide Slippers

Slippers are always a must last and you may prefer a furry pair with a rubber sole so you can run outside to the mailbox. These Vince Loni Genuine Shearling Slippers are $150 or get these Kelly & Katie Kate Scuff Slippers for a fraction of the cost at $19.99.

Smart Coffee Mug

Since you will want to stay alert while you shop those Black Friday flash sales, you will need to keep a warm cup of coffee at your desk. This new Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug is brilliant for $99 but you may also like this BESTINNKITS Smart Coffee Set Auto On/Off Gravity-induction Mug to keep your coffee warm for  a mere $39.99.

Blue Light Filtering Reading Glasses

You should have a pair of blue light filtering glasses not only for Black Friday but for any time you are on the computer for a long period of time. And if you are over 40, you may need reading glasses, too. These The Book Club 50mm The Hate Relax Me Blue Light Blocking Reading Glasses are a really cool style in black with blue frames for $40. But if you often loose your reading glasses, you can get this pair of Peepers by PeeperSpecs Women’s Shine on Focus Square Blue Light Filtering Reading Glasses for only $24.68.

Other Items You Need for Online Shopping

Measuring Tape. It is helpful to keep a measuring tape or ruler on your desk to double check sizes of apparel and other items. Retailers often give you measurements but with a measuring tape you can see exactly how long those pants will be or how large a 9″ x 6″ handbag actually is.

Coupon Organizer. You may still get coupons in the mail. I do for Kohl’s, Macy’s, DSW, Bed, Bath and Beyond and others. And while you may get online coupons and promotions in your email, it is helpful to keep paper coupons on hand in a coupon organizer for Black Friday and cyber shopping.

Your Shopping List!  Get a cute notepad and keep a gift list handy so you stay on track when you shop the online holiday sales. Make your list with names of the people you are shopping for along with a few gift ideas, sizes, and the amount you want to spend for each gift. Making a list and checking it twice will make Black Friday Shopping much easier!
