The Best Sweats For Women Over 40 To Wear Now

This article could be alternatively titled “all we want to wear right now”. Granted, most of us who are non-essential workers are barely going outside (and we shouldn’t be!) so there’s no reason not to be comfy. There is also no reason to not look chic while doing so and wear some of the best sweats for women over 40.

Plus why not have some fun with bright colors and prints, or alternatively, pick up a couple classics like a black and white Adidas tracksuit? Or even invest in a super cozy cashmere sweatsuit to reward yourself for getting through this!

So here are some of this writer’s favorite looks for sheltering in place right now…

Best Sweats For Women Over 40

Tie-Dye Sweats

The tie-dye while sheltering in place trend is of course a major thing on Instagram and the web in general, but we’re low key loving it. This Betsy Johnson sweatshirt is relatively subtle for tie-dye and would look good with a variety of bottoms. And while we wouldn’t suggest wearing them together (maybe), these pastel Adidas joggers are fun and would brighten a day stuck at home. If you see something in tie-dye you love, order it quickly because they are selling out that fast.

PUMA x CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA Women’s Crewneck Sweatshirt, $70 | PUMA x CHARLOTTE OLYMPIA Tailored for Sport Women’s AOP Track Pants, $95

Animal Print

We always love a good animal print so why not get it in sweatsuit form? This Puma X Charlotte Olympia one is a good blend of not-so-basic black and animal print, and we also love the coordinating leopard pants and track jackets and the rest of the collection in general.

Adidas Essentials Tricot Track Jacket, now $35 | Adidas Originals Women’s Superstar Track Pant, $65

Get Some Stripes

We adore a good track jacket and nothing is better than old school Adidas. The black and white track jacket looks great with almost anything and we bet you’d find yourself wearing it over anything and everything. These also pair well with the original Adidas Superstar track pants, which will look great with a tee or tank once spring really starts setting in.

Varley Barton Sweatshirt, $99

The Little Black…Hoodie?

This is better than your standard gray hoodie. This Varley Barton sweatshirt lets you cinch in your waist at a flattering point for most of us while still being super comfortable, plus it would look good with essentially any kind of leggings, pants, shorts, or whatever really.

Get Luxe Sweats for Women

Now might be the time – more than ever – to treat yourself to something super luxurious, and nothing fits that bill more than a cashmere sweatsuit. We love this cashmere crew from SummerSalt. There are several color options (including sea urchin and white sand pictured at the top) that you can mix and match with their cashmere joggers.

Uniqlo AIRism Hoodie blue fountainof30
Uniqlo AIRism UV Protection Mesh Long-Sleeve Full-Zip Hoodie, now $19.90

Keep It Lightweight

Since it’s getting warmer out (at least in the northern hemisphere), something a little more breathable than standard sweats might be a good choice, like anything from the Uniqlo AIRism collection. The full-zip hoodies are especially great – they offer UV protection for your socially distant walks and they come in a bunch of colors (coral pink is pictured at the top). We’re partial to the blue which would look good on virtually everyone.

One last tip – don’t be afraid to check out the men’s department or even the kid’s department if you are petite – the prices might be better and sweats are definitely one of those things where the fit is flexible and the styles can be somewhat unisex.
