Let’s face it, most beauty trends for fashion shows are for just that, show. They can be very extreme or very minimalist (so you actually look at the clothes and not the models). However there are some beauty and hair trends from NYFW Fall ’17 that actually make it to real life from these shows. Just like you would not…
Valentine’s Day is supposed to be about the ones you love, but besides my husband there are a couple other men I love who are really important in my life…the men responsible for my hair. Ask any woman over the age of 35 you know and she will tell you her colorist and the person who cuts her hair are as vital as breathing. In my case they are both men and they both work at Sassoon Salon in NYC.
I have read women ingest anywhere between 3.7 pounds to 7 pounds of lipstick (that includes balms) in their lifetime (various reports all have different numbers). Yet if you think about it, ingesting anything you put on your lips that isn’t organic or somewhat healthy is kinda…gross. Once I learned I was allergic to metals and preservatives (which is in a lot of lipsticks and balms) I started researching healthier options. So in this post we are going to take a look at organic lip balms.
Ever since I learned this past November I have suddenly developed allergies to a lot of preservatives and metals found in skincare, beauty and makeup products – my life has been turned upside down. Finding a body wash without unwanted chemicals, metals and additives isn’t as easy as you’d think…well at least good ones.
I for one am completely over 2016. The year brought a lot of death, especially of famous people I adored and miss. So I am ready for 2017 and pray that a few other things die, like these trends that I can’t stand seeing any more! May they all go to the fashion and beauty graveyard.
When I recently learned I had developed skin allergies to most of the makeup and beauty products I have held near and dear to my heart – it was unnerving to say the least. I pay attention to what I put into my body, but never gave what I put on it much thought, until I was forced to. Finding foundations that are healthy and work really well has been my mission.
Occasionally, holidays, parties or the impending new year makes us ready for a new look. The simplest way to accomplish trying something new is with your hair (I just went for new bangs myself). Sassoon makes it a no-brainer and more importantly an easy decision with a personalized look just for you. It’s not hard to be inspired by Sassoon’s new A/W UTOPIA Collection. The collection draws on the 60-year brand heritage and demonstrates Sassoon’s ultimate high definition hair designs.
Beauty always comes at a price, but it doesn’t always have to be a high one. The holidays are the best time to take advantage of beauty gifts for others and of course yourself. Many companies offer special sets and throw in little extras you can get only once a year. So take full advantage. Here are some of our favorite beauty finds.
I feel you. Nobody wants to be a Grinch but you don’t have unlimited funds for holiday gifts for ALL of your friends and family either. No worries! I found some great gifts that all come in under $25. Welcome to Presentville…
I know we all wish we had unlimited funds to spend on friends and loved ones, but that’s not realistic. What is realistic are these amazing gift ideas I found that all come in under $50. Granted most (OK all) are for women, but let’s face it, women are more fun to shop for. Besides, the holidays mean beauty gift sets and we LOVE to give and receive them! Take full advantage of holiday gift sets since they are usually a brand’s best deals of the year.
I recently shared I have had to become a green beauty blogger out of necessity, so the hunt is on! My skin is no longer reacting well to preservatives and other gunk found in many beauty and skincare products. One premium skincare brand that kept coming up in research and recommended by friends was Tata Harper. Therefore I knew I needed to try some of the products. The line was founded in 2010 by Tata Harper with the brilliant idea people no longer have to sacrifice their health to look and feel beautiful.
I’m in the process of learning to become a green or vegan anti-aging beauty expert – out of default. I have had to completely relearn everything I ever knew about beauty products. Here’s the back story. Last month my face suddenly broke out in a painful, blistery, ugly, red rash. It itched and took everything out of me not to scratch myself to death. After a few days in utter agony I knew I needed a visit to my dermatologist who confirmed I had contact dermatitis. She prescribed and ointment and told me to stop wearing makeup until it cleared (a death sentence). She also had me schedule an appointment with an allergist to have a patch test.
Have you ever someone and instantly adored them? That’s how I felt when I met Dr. Jeanette Graf during this last New York Fashion Week. She is quite possibly the warmest celebrity dermatologist I have ever met (and I have met many). She gives excellent beauty advice and really good hugs too!
Think about it, do you really want your makeup tested on animals? Why should animals be tortured in the name of our beauty and if it can’t be tested on humans, do you really want to put it on your face? I don’t. You may have noticed (thankfully) there is a big push for cosmetics companies to no longer test on animals. You might also be amazed in this day and age how many cosmetics companies are still animal testing
